• Chimney breasts and disused flues. Older Marple Bridge cottages have redundant stacks that make warm, sheltered nesting voids.
• Stone outbuildings and drystone walls. Sheds, former workshops, field barns toward Mellor, and the drystone boundary walls around Brabyns Park give cavity and ground nests plenty of options.
• Trees on the valley sides. Tree wasps build exposed aerial nests in the mature woodland along the Goyt, through Brabyns and out toward the Compstall and Roman Lakes edge.
